Customer Comment

'Prior to starting this venture into learning and developing management skills with Peak Management Services, I often felt trapped and withheld in my position at work, and more importantly within myself. Now over half way through both an FLM award and an NVQ level 3 in management, it has already boosted my self confidence and self belief. It has allowed me to put my work in order and help prioritise my tasks. It would be fair to say that starting this course has literally changed my life for the better. The teaching style is quite unique and relaxing with support given at every level, should you need it. I owe so many thanks to the support of the Peak Management team.'

At Peak Management Services Ltd, we aim to deliver high quality training and qualifications at very competitive prices.

Ask for free e-mail copies of our 'Peak' CMI, ILM & Edexcel Study Guides. We also supply free e-mail syllabuses and guides to all the qualifications we deliver. Check out all our pages for details of our various programmes.

We also like to think we’re a little different as a training and qualifications provider at ‘Peak’. Take a look at some of the features of our programmes…

Flexibility – You’ll find us extremely flexible in our working arrangements with you as we don’t just work nine to five, Monday to Friday.

Shift workers?  Not a problem, as we can deliver courses in your workplace whenever required – Weekdays, weekends, Bank Holidays (but give us a break on Christmas Day!), evening time, even on the night shift at no extra cost!

We also recognise that the unexpected sometimes occurs and you may need to re-arrange one of your sessions at short notice – don’t worry as we won’t penalise you, or charge extra for the occasional short notice change of meeting.

Want to get away from the workplace? We can cater for single learners or small groups at our addresses, or arrange training accommodation suitable to your needs. We can also arrange residential accommodation for courses and outdoor team building events.

Photo below left - Director, Sylvia Howard (far right) working with associates Tony Hudson and Elaine Beecroft at one of our training venues, The Quadrant, Sheffield.

Price – We offer very competitive prices and excellent value for money – compare what we offer as a package to that of our competitors.

We therefore don’t publish price lists as we tailor our services to your needs and budgets.

Credit Cards – If you want to pay by credit card then we can arrange payment via PayPal, but please note that there will be a surcharge for this service due to our lower prices.

For individual students we may be able to help you spread the cost of your qualification by arranging payments by instalment.

Funded Programmes - If you're an owner, director or partner of a business and you employ between 5 and 250 people you could get some financial help from the Government for your own personal training and development!

Over the last couple of years, some participants in our courses have received funding from The Government's Train to Gain Leadership and Management Fund and we are currently registering students on CMI Level 5 programmes where ‘Train to Gain’ funding has been arranged through ‘Business Link’. Availability of funding will vary throughout the UK but visit  http://www.businesslink.gov.uk to find details of your local Business Link and the availability of funding.

The first £500 is free and then everything else is 50% funded, so a £1500 initiative costs you only £500

If you're an employer based in the Yorkshire region you may find further funding opportunities available for your staff at the Skills Enhancement Fund website at: http://www.enhancementfund.co.uk/framework/framework-overview.asp

We have wide experience of working in a variety of environments – public sector (e.g. police, fire, prison service, education, health, local government, social services etc) private sector (e.g. various business organisations including a clothing manufacturer, computer animation and design studios and Sheffield Chamber of Commerce & Industry and various training organisations) and the voluntary sector (including charities such as Home Farm Trust and Young Enterprise). See full details on our CMI, ILM, Edexcel and specific Police, Fire and Health pages.

Extra time to complete - We don’t limit you to doing a qualification in a year or insist on regular meetings (weekly or monthly) – you have the life of the awarding body registration to do the course (each body and qualification differs). In some cases this can give you 3 years to complete your qualification – compare that to your local college on identical qualifications, because our courses are run for your benefit – not ours!

Ethical policy – We work to strong ethical values so wouldn’t attempt to sell you a course that wasn’t right for you. We take care in choosing the clients we work with - e.g. we will not engage with any individual or organisation who we know to be involved in any criminal or unethical enterprise. We want to ensure that those clients working with us on a long term basis are not caused embarrassment by any of our other clients.

Don’t be frightened to contact us for advice as we don’t later constantly badger you with junk mail or telephone calls.

Disability - If you're disabled, house-bound or a carer living in South Yorkshire then we may be able to arrange free home visits to supplement our distance learning programmes.

Innovative NVQ programmes - Put off by stories of people building mountains of paper to achieve their NVQ? We use the latest digital sound recording technology, observation, video and photography to assess candidates using professional discussion; as well as using CD ROM based portfolios to cut down on time, paper and report writing.

Our ILM management NVQ programmes now includes the option of free e-portfolios and log books.

We also offer video link technology for observation and professional discussion.

We're now also using the new mini 'net book' computers to aid assessment, including video interviews and the possibility of web-cam interviews.

We can also deliver joint ‘taught’ courses in combination with NVQ programmes giving you 2 qualifications, but with one assessment strategy – speak to us for details.

We’ve developed further ideas such as ‘Memory Stick’ and electronic portfolios – but if you want to do it the traditional paper based way, that’s also fine by us.

From 2010 we're delivering the latest management and leadership NVQ's up to Level 7 via ILM.

Assessor, Internal Quality Assurance & External Quality Assurance awards – From October 2010 we are also delivering the new assessor and quality assurance awards to replace the existing A1, A2 & V1 awards.

We can also offer complete teaching, assessor and coaching award packages with integrated all-in-one assessment to cut down the work burden on our students.

One of our awarding bodies Edexcel - is involved in partnership working with us on these packages and helping us market specific packages for police and fire brigades.

Great teaching material – We write our own teaching material tailored to the learning requirements of the qualification you’re undertaking – unlike many training providers who use generalised material.

All our work is written with a hint of humour to make learning a fun experience!

We provide all our material on CD ROM so that you can view it on your computer screen, or print if off. We even print your CD personalised to you or your organisation.

Our ILM and Chartered Management Institute programmes also come with free study membership of one of these top professional bodies – with access to other learning resources.

We can also recommend, or supply, other teaching material as required – e.g. ILM Super Series of workbooks, Chartered Management Institute ‘Pathways’ workbooks, Tribal Publishing A1 assessor workbooks etc; as well as recommending or supplying some good reference books.

Student Quote - 'Having Dyslexia is something that I have decided to confront rather than hide. Although I have been offered the opportunity of recorded professional discussion to undertake my assignments I want to complete my course in the same way as my colleagues. The tutors at 'Peak' are providing me with extra tutorial support and supervision of my written work so I am now confident of completing the course.'

Innovative assessment of taught programmes – bored at writing heaps of essays on previous courses? We tailor your assessments to your personal and organisational needs – e.g. presentations, workplace evidence, simulated TV/press interviews etc.

Ongoing Support – We provide ongoing email and telephone support for our learners.

Our ILM and Chartered Management Institute programmes also come with free study membership of one of these professional bodies – with access to information centres offering ongoing support.

We have experience of working with candidates who require alternative assessment methods (e.g. those with Dyslexia)

Personal recommendations – Apart from web site and networking events we don’t use advertising, as the vast majority of our business comes from personal recommendations from our customers. Some of their comments can be found on different pages of this web site.

Quality – We’ve had to meet the stringent requirements of ILM, Edexcel, & the Chartered Management Institute to be able offer their programmes. We've undertaken a voluntary rigorous Edexcel quality assurance inspection and scored the top score possible, as a demonstration of our commitment to quality.

Both directors – Sylvia Howard and John Haycox are qualified teachers, assessors & verifiers; as is Principal Associate Tony Hudson. We put our own continuing professional development as a high priority, as well as that of our associates.

Any other associates used on our programmes are tried and trusted qualified staff with whom we have worked with elsewhere. All associates used on our programmes have gone through approval processes of the appropriate awarding body (ILM, Chartered Management Institute or Edexcel).

We are members of the IVA (Institute of Verifiers & Assessors), ILM, Chartered Management Institute and Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

We work to European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) standards within Peak Management Services Ltd as director John Haycox is a qualified EFQM European Awards assessor.

Peak Management Services Ltd is a registered 'Bluelight' emergency services supplier - www.bluelight.gov.uk/

Vetting –  All our staff have been through recent vetting procedures with police, security and prison services, because of involvement with sensitive material within some of the organisations dealt with by ‘Peak’. We all also hold CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) certificates. Any other associates likely to be involved with such work have also gone through (or will be happy to go through) such processes. We are also happy to sign further confidentiality agreements with any of our customers.

Other services – although our main stream of work is training and delivery of qualifications, we can offer a range of advisory and problem solving work based management services including ‘life’ coaching, business performance coaching, EFQM quality advice services, recruitment and selection services, personal development advice etc – just ask us!

We also offer short training courses which can be given recognition through ILM’s endorsed system of awards, as well as specialist courses (e.g. De Bono’s Six Thinking Hats decision making/meetings course, team building events and specialist conflict resolution courses including anger management for young people).

Our principal associate Tony Hudson delivers the conflict resolution courses in his own right, which include – an accredited NHS Conflict Resolution Course and an accredited Mental Health/Learning Disabilities staff conflict resolution course, which can be delivered over 1, 2 or 3 days as required. See Health page for more details.

Tony has delivered similar courses to youth workers, legal secretaries, social workers, etc.

John Haycox is a qualified life coach and business performance coach. He has also worked with EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) in Belgium, the Netherlands, Italy and the UK. He is a European Quality Awards assessor.

We are now also a CMI approved supplier of 'Management Direct Services' - see CMI page.
